You have two options for getting to Perisher from Jindabyne. 1) Drive all the way up through the national park (fees apply) 2) Drive to Bullocks Flat and catch the regular SkiTube service
It is worth noting that Jindabyne is not a big town. You can walk just about everywhere. If you are living outside the main town, then there is more than enough parking available. The centre broadly splits in two: Nugget's Crossing and Old Jindy.
Groceries
Woolworths is in Nugget's Crossing and is the only supermarket, but it is a good size with a liquor store adjacent. You will also find a Butchers and Bakery in Old Jindy, and there is another large bakery in Nugget's Crossing. There is also a small supermarket upstairs in the Perisher SkiTube terminal.
Cafes
As you would expect there is a cafe around every corner in the centre; plenty that offer indoor and outdoor seating, and usually serving a delicious assortment of snacks/cakes. Perhaps a key reason to choose one cafe over another would be the availability of free WiFi - so check out CBD or Gloria Jean's.
Coffee Beats Drinks ("CBD") - upstairs Nugget's Crossing Gloria Jean's - lower carpark Nugget's Crossing
Banks / ATMs
Westpac Branch & ATM - Upper Nugget's Crossing Commonwealth Branch & ATM - Lower Nugget's Crossing ANZ ATM - Old Jindy
Post Office / Postboxes
The Post Office is above Nugget's Crossing, just next to the large Mitre10 shed. There is a post box outside the newsagent in Nugget's Crossing (where you can also buy domestic stamps).
Sports & Recreation Centre
On the road from Jindabyne towards The Station is the Jindabyne Sports Club - with facilities for Badminton, Basketball, Rock Climbing, Trampolining and a small gym. This is quite a long way from the centre of town, and definitely driving distance. [Located at 207 The Barry Way] In Jindy itself there is a well equipped gym, High Country Fitness - just opposite WestPac bank. This requires membership for entry.
Wildbrumby Distillery
About 10km out of town, en-route to the SkiTube, you will find a schnapps distillery, which is well worth a visit to sample some of the locally made flavours. There is also an excellent restaurant for meals, gift shop and cafe. Be sure to designate a driver, as this stuff is really strong!

Bars
Banjo's - Just on the entrance to Jindy is a large, lively bar/club beneath the Banjo Paterson Inn. There are several bars to be served at, with a large heated outdoor area and a dance area to the rear - which also shows live sport on a projector. Wednesday is the big night - standing room only.
LJ's - The Lake Jindabyne Hotel is right on the lake and just between Old Jindy and Nugget's Crossing. There is a large bar (and restaurant) with free WiFi, pool tables and live music. It is often a good place to watch live sport on TV and Saturday night is steak night.
"Bowlo" - The Jindabyne Bowling Club, opposite Banjo's with its squash courts, lawn bowls and tennis courts also has a quiet bar, cheap food and many evening events - such as Friday night 'meat raffle'. You will also find sport on TV.
The Brumby - Just a stone's throw from Nugget's Crossing, on the way out towards Perisher. It's a smaller bar with a great bistro and a bit of a quieter, older vibe.
Places to Eat
There's no shortage of restaurants or take out places, with all tastes catered for. You'll find Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Kebabs, Fish & Chips - as well as the famous Sunday Roast at the "Bowlo" (Bowling Club) every Sunday night. The Rock & Pot is also a great venue, where you buy your meat and then cook it yourself on a hot stone.
Gas Stations
2 in Jindabyne itself: Caltex and Servo There is also a Shell station on Kosciuzko Road, just at the edge of the lake at the turning off towards the SkiTube and Thredbo.
Snow Chains
Don't forget to grab some chains (available at gas stations and some hire shops) and be sure you know how to fit them as if the snow really comes in the roads are treacherous. Often if the conditions deteriorate the police will be out on the roads forcing people to put their chains on. For these occasions it is helpful to have a pair of gloves and a large piece of tarpaulin with your chains. use these to protect your hands from the snow and slush by laying the tarpaulin on the ground and drive onto it with the wheels that you are going to fit chains to, thus saving you from playing in the wet and freezing conditions, as snow chains can be fiddly to put on and this is made all the more difficult when your fingers are cold and turning numb.
Other Between Old Jindy and Nugget's crossing you'll find the Snowy Region Visitor Centre which is a great source of information for tourists, and within the same building there is a cinema. If you need to see a doctor, head for the Nugget's Crossing Family Practice (02 6457 1221)
